Answering FAQ From Campbelltown

Our Frequently Asked Questions

Queen Street Dental in Campbelltown provides many different dental treatments. Here are a few of the questions we most commonly get and our answers about them. If you have other questions, feel free to call us.
  • Are implants for everyone?

Some medical conditions prevent people from qualifying for implants. You must also have enough bone mass to support them and have enough space in your mouth.

  • What sports do I need mouthguards for?

You should always wear a mouthguard for contact sports, like rugby. We highly recommend a mouthguard for limited contact sports, like lacrosse or horseback riding, and you don't need a mouthguard for non-contact sports, like tennis.

  • Why do I need a root canal treatment?

If your tooth is damaged, a root canal treatment can save it by preventing bacteria from reaching your tooth pulp, which is essential for the tooth.

  • How long should I brush my teeth?

You should brush for two to three minutes, two times a day.

  • Are tongue and lip piercings safe?

The stud from your tongue or lip piercing can damage your teeth and other parts of your mouth or cause difficulty speaking. That's why we suggest not piercing your tongue or lips.

  • Does everyone need their wisdom teeth removed?

Not everyone needs them removed, but this is only when your mouth has enough room for the molars, and there are no other issues with them. Wisdom teeth removal is a very safe surgery.

  • Should I replace my amalgam fillings?

We only replace amalgam fillings if there is a problem with decay, appearance, endodontic teeth or fracture. If you remove an amalgam filling unnecessarily, there can be other consequences.

  • What is cosmetic dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is any form of dentistry used to improve the look of your smile. It includes tooth whitening, dental implants and braces among other things.

  • What are dental bridges?

Dental bridges are a set of false teeth permanently fixed into your mouth to replace missing teeth. They are attached by connecting the bridge to two crowns on either side of the area and can be made from gold, porcelain, alloys or a combination of materials.
